Who are ESD?
ESD’s core management have been in the Lift & Escalator business for over 35 years, coming from some of the UK’s leading manufacturers such as OTIS & KONE.
Established in1999, ESD have grown to become the UK’s leading specialist for escalator and travelator cleaning in portfolio contracts.
We are an escalator company that clean escalators. Our cleaning division came about when clients were asking how to carry out the cleaning correctly and more importantly without having to remove the steps, so we came up with an in-situ method which was far safer and a much more cost effective solution than the upheaval & disruption of having to remove and re-fit steps to the escalator.
In the early 2000’s, rapid expansion meant we had to open a new northern office based in Manchester to complement our Bristol head office, ensuring nationwide coverage for our clients.
Since 1999 we have invested heavily in the finest escalator cleaning equipment in the world, the German made JUMA Escalator & Travelator Series cleaning machines, along with our investment in technician training, our eye for detail, quality of service, and desire to get things done right every time, this has enabled ESD to become the UK’s No.1 service provider with over 45,000 escalators cleans carried out to date.
Our Experience
Over 35 years in escalator business supplying escalators parts and professional services to all the major escalator manufacturers & facilities management companies. The demand for our specialist expertise in escalator cleaning has taken our team right across the world.
ESD have been employed to carry out professional cleaning services & technician training in places such as Beijing International Airport, and New Jersey, USA for a major escalator manufacturer.
Major projects have included: Westfield London, Westfield Stratford, John Lewis Southern Portfoilio, Boots (national), Tesco, INTU shopping centres, Capitol & Regional, British Land, and Network Rail.
In 2007 ESD carried out the first Blue Safety Feet initiative in the UK to reduce accidents at the Touchwood Centre, Solihull on behalf of OTIS, which was then rolled out across the UK & Ireland after successful accident reductions.
All ESD technicians have attained the OTIS AllSafe safety accreditation for working on escalators safely as a minimum safety standard. This involves an annual accreditation test along with an on site FPA Audit for working in and on the escalator, this is audited annually by an OTIS FPA field manager to ensure correct safety standards are met and are in line with the AllSafe accreditation.
